Periodontal health for a better life
Periodontal Consultation
Initial Assessment
The periodontal consultation is the first appointment. We take immense pride in providing a comprehensive and holistic consultation, assessing not just your gum health, but your teeth, your bite, your jaw joints and considering any risk factors about your general health, helping us to understand the whole picture.
Time is set aside to learn more about you; to give you an opportunity to let us know what you are worried about, your oral hygiene routine and how this can be personalised to you and understand the reasons for your referral.

Advanced Diagnostics
The consultation includes any x-rays required and we sometimes include clinical photographs that allow us to visualise things outside of the mouth and monitor your progress. We are also proud to be the first practice in Warwickshire providing diabetes screens for our patients suffering with gum disease (periodontitis).

Treatment Plan
Once all the information from our assessment has been obtained we will discuss our findings in detail and we will be able to provide a full diagnosis, an outline of the options, and provide a recommended treatment plan with estimated costs.
Estimated time – 1-1.5 hours, Cost of consultation – £160
*includes x-rays, diagnosis, report, treatment plan, diabetes screen if required.

Referred Patients
If you have been referred to us, we will liaise with and work with your dentist to help you achieve the best outcome. Once your treatment has been completed and your gum health is stable, we can discharge you back to your dentist and hygienist to continue to look after your oral health.
We are passionate about education and our periodontists teach and lecture regularly, and can help as a supporting role in providing advice for dentists and hygienists in managing any gum problems themselves too. Of course, when specialist or advanced care is required, we are here to help.

Periodontal Consultation FAQs
A periodontal consultation is an in-depth examination of your gum health, teeth, bite, jaw joints, and other factors to assess the overall condition of your mouth and identify any signs of gum disease or other oral health issues.
During the consultation, we will evaluate not only your gum health but also your teeth, bite, and jaw joints. We will take x-rays if necessary, and may include clinical photographs to better monitor your progress. You’ll also have the opportunity to discuss any concerns, and we’ll assess your oral hygiene routine to personalise your care.
The consultation typically takes between 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the complexity of the assessment and any diagnostics required.
Yes, x-rays will be taken if required. These help us get a clear picture of your dental health and identify any underlying issues that are not visible during the physical examination.
